Few things make a day out easier than knowing there is somewhere to change a nappy or feed a baby in peace. The old directory collected places in Frankfurt with changing tables and nursing areas. This page summarises the kinds of places involved rather than listing individual addresses, as facilities and opening hours can change.
Department stores
Large department stores on and around the Zeil in the city centre were the most common entries. Galeria Kaufhof and Karstadt were both listed for changing facilities, and a global clothing retailer in the same area was noted for providing both changing tables and nursing areas.
Fashion and baby chains
The mother-and-child ranges of high-street fashion brands often come with changing tables, as do specialist baby stores in the centre. These are the easiest places to combine shopping with a quick stop.
Shopping centres
Malls such as MyZeil in the city centre and the Main-Taunus-Zentrum in Sulzbach were noted for baby-changing rooms, which makes them a good bet in bad weather when children need space to move around.
Bookshops and drugstores
A big city-centre bookshop and a drugstore near the Konstablerwache were also listed. Drugstores are handy because you can buy nappies and baby supplies on the spot.
Furniture stores and cafes
The large Swedish furniture store in northern Frankfurt has both a changing table and a nursing area, along with a cafe that welcomes children.
Tips
- Carry a portable changing mat in case a room is busy or out of order.
- Ask at customer service if you cannot spot the facility. Staff will usually point it out.
- Nursing is accepted in public in Germany, so you do not have to use a dedicated room unless you prefer to.
